The primary objective of the opioid litigation is transparency. To be transparent is to “allow light to pass through so that objects behind can be distinctly seen.”
I am reminded of Toto pulling aside the curtain to reveal the wizard in The Wizard of Oz. Such a simple act reveals the true nature of the booming voice. The disclosure of the ARCOS data in this litigation, while not so simple, is no less revelatory.
Our mission in the opioid litigation was to bring transparency to the volume of prescription opiates sold into our communities across the country. It started with a subpoena served on the U.S. Department of Justice and ended when the United States Circuit Court for the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals (the second-highest court in the land) ordered the release of the data to the general public.
