HUNTINGTON — The federal judge presiding over hundreds of lawsuits filed against companies that manufactured and distributed prescription painkillers to communities across the U.S. has been asked to assign a Huntington lawyer to help lead the national litigation.
Judge Dan Polster had asked the plaintiffs “for a proposal on how they should structure themselves, an organizational structure,” said attorney Paul T. Farrell of Greene, Ketchum, Farrell, Bailey & Tweel.
In a motion filed Thursday, the plaintiffs asked Polster to designate Farrell; Paul Hanly Jr., a founding member of Alton, Ill.-based Simmons, Hanly & Conroy; and Joe Rice of Motley Rice LLC, headquartered in South Carolina, as co-lead counsel during the multi-district litigation process.
